Is Grammar Out of Style?

Rogue apostophes, misplaced modifiers, the wrong their/they’re—grammar mistakes are becoming rampant, even in mainstream news publications. (That’s what firing all your copyeditors in the name of cost cutting does.) Is caring about grammar passé, something that only us language fuddy-duddies still care about?

I don’t think so—because grammar still supports an essential function of language, which is clarity and understanding. Read what I have to say about it over at Medium (for free!).
