About Heather...
I realized that I had a strong
sense of style when my mother
started raiding my closet in high school.
I started writing about fashion and shopping
in 1997, and now I'm the fashion columnist
for North Shore Magazine and a regular
style contributor to the Chicago Reader
and Women's Wear Daily. Other credits
include authoring the shopping and neighborhoods
chapters of Real City Chicago, a guidebook
published by DK Travel; writing about
wine and spirits for Crain's Chicago Business;
and profiling wedding-industry trendsetters
for Modern Bride.
In 2001 I took a yearlong sabbatical
to live in Rome and travel around Italy
and other countries. Impressed with the
individual elan of the
French and the Italian appreciation
for quality, I started a personal
shopping business to help Chicago-area
women apply these ideas to their own wardrobes.
Having watched the Chicago fashion and
shopping scene grow to world-class proportions
in the last ten years, I decided to use
my expertise as both a fashion writer
and a stylist to introduce visitors and
residents alike to the amazing boutiques
and talented designers in my hometown.
It would be my pleasure to show you around.
